Norton Sound Health Corporation (NSHC) is the tribally operated health system for the Bering Strait region, serving Nome and 15 surrounding communities. NSHC provides primary care, and developmental concerns are addressed through pediatric services and telehealth consultations with Anchorage specialists. Nome is accessible only by air — no roads connect it to the highway system.
