SEARHC Skagway Medical Center — Pediatric Referrals

SEARHC's Skagway Medical Center provides primary care to this small but internationally recognized tourist town at the head of the Klondike Gold Rush route. Skagway is road-connected to Whitehorse, Yukon (Canada) and accessible by ferry to Juneau and Haines. Specialist care requires travel to Juneau (~4.5 hours by ferry) or Anchorage.

Skagway is a small community (~1,000 permanent residents) with seasonal tourist influx. Road to Whitehorse YT is open year-round but Juneau is the medical hub for specialists.

Alaska Early Intervention — Infant Learning Program (Skagway)

Alaska's Part C EI program serves Skagway's very small under-3 population. Juneau ILP staff cover this community with telehealth and occasional in-person visits. FREE for eligible children. Given the tiny community size, families may be among very few EI clients in the borough.

No in-person ABA therapy is available in Skagway. Telehealth ABA parent training from Juneau or Anchorage BCBAs is the primary behavioral support option. Alaska Medicaid covers ABA telehealth. Given Skagway's very small school-age population, connections through PARENTS, Inc. are especially important.

Telehealth is the only ABA option. Juneau specialists are accessible by ferry or float plane. The Skagway school district is very small.
