How we write & review

Trust is built slowly. Here is how Harborlight approaches accuracy, tone, updates, and corrections—plus clear limits on what we will never claim to do.

Last reviewed: April 2026

Source hierarchy

  1. U.S. government agencies and federally funded technical assistance centers.
  2. State education and Medicaid portals for locality-specific rules.
  3. Established disability organizations with clear expertise and citations.
  4. Our lived experience for pacing, compassion, and logistics—but never as a stand-in for law or medicine.

Dating & maintenance

Each guide shows a “Last reviewed” month. When policy shifts or a link breaks, we patch it and note the change in our running corrections log below.

Corrections log

  • April 2026 — Initial Harborlight launch pages seeded. No public corrections yet.

What we avoid

  • Fear-based headlines that shame parents or oversell miracle outcomes.
  • Legal or medical advice framed as universal truth.
  • Unmoderated forums on day one (misinformation risk).
  • Undated state benefit amounts that will go stale.

Privacy

We collect only what hosting and feedback forms require. Detailed privacy practices will expand alongside features; contact us if you need accommodations interacting with the site.
