Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium — Telehealth (Yukon-Koyukuk)
Yukon-Koyukuk is the largest census area in the United States by landmass, covering communities including Galena, Fort Yukon, Huslia, Hughes, and dozens of remote villages. There are no comprehensive hospitals — Community Health Aide clinics and ANTHC-affiliated health stations provide primary care. All specialist and autism evaluation services require flying to Fairbanks or Anchorage. Telehealth is the only realistic ongoing care option for virtually every family in this area.
The largest census area in the US covers an area larger than California. No roads connect most communities. Small planes are the only transport. Telehealth is not just preferred — it is the only option for ongoing specialist care.
