Cross Road Medical Center in Glennallen is the primary healthcare facility for the Copper River Census Area along the Richardson and Glenn Highways. Developmental screenings and referrals are provided; comprehensive autism evaluations require travel to Anchorage (~190 miles west) or to Fairbanks (~250 miles north). The Richardson Highway provides year-round road access to both cities.
Glennallen is the hub for Copper River Basin communities including Valdez and communities along the Glenn Hwy. Road-accessible to Anchorage (~3 hrs) — a significant advantage over fly-in areas.

In-person ABA therapy is not available in the Copper River Census Area. Telehealth ABA parent training from Anchorage-based BCBAs is the primary behavioral support option. Road access to Anchorage (~3 hours via Richardson/Glenn Highways) means some families can drive for in-person intensive services. Alaska Medicaid covers ABA telehealth.
Road access to Anchorage is a key advantage over more remote AK areas. Some Anchorage BCBAs may drive to Glennallen for periodic in-person sessions. Ask when calling.
