Los Alamos Medical Center serves this unique high-tech/DOE community in the Jemez Mountains. Los Alamos County has unusually high education levels and strong commercial insurance coverage due to the national laboratory workforce. Developmental screenings and referrals are available locally; comprehensive autism evaluations are typically done at UNM Children's Hospital (~35 miles south) or Presbyterian Medical Center in Albuquerque.
