UT Health East Texas — Developmental Pediatrics

Marion County families in Jefferson travel to UT Health East Texas in Tyler for comprehensive autism evaluations. The developmental-behavioral pediatrics program provides multidisciplinary assessments. Tyler is approximately 60 miles west of Jefferson and serves as the regional medical hub.

Jefferson is a small historic town — Tyler is the closest comprehensive evaluation site. Ask about telehealth options for initial screening consultations.

Texas Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) — Upshur County

Texas ECI services for infants and toddlers 0–3 in Upshur County. Free developmental evaluations and early intervention for children at risk for autism or developmental delay. Coordinated through the East Texas ECI network.

Ages 0–3

ECI is FREE for all eligible Texas children 0–3. Call 1-800-628-5115 to start a referral.

Jefferson

Texas ECI — Marion County (Northeast Texas Region)

Texas ECI provides free early childhood intervention for children birth to 3 in Marion County. Services include speech-language therapy, OT, developmental therapy, and family support delivered in the home. Referrals accepted from any source.

FREE for eligible children. Start the process as soon as you have developmental concerns — there is no benefit to waiting for a formal diagnosis.

ABA therapy

Applied Behavior Analysis therapy — typically requires insurance authorization.

Jefferson

Region 8 ESC — Special Education Services

Education Service Center Region 8 in Mount Pleasant supports Marion County ISD special education programs. ESC consultants provide behavioral support, autism program consulting, and connections to contracted ABA providers serving Northeast Texas districts.
