Ridgecrest Regional Hospital — Developmental Referrals
Inyo County families in the Ridgecrest area (Kern County border) access developmental referrals through Ridgecrest Regional Hospital. Bishop-area families use Northern Inyo Hospital. For comprehensive autism evaluations, families must travel to Bakersfield (2–3 hrs from Ridgecrest) or Reno, NV (3 hrs from Bishop). Telehealth is the most practical diagnostic starting point.
Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop is the main facility. For autism evaluations, telehealth through UC Davis MIND Institute or travel to Bakersfield/Reno is required.

Applied Behavior Analysis therapy — typically requires insurance authorization.

Telehealth ABA parent coaching for Inyo County families. No local ABA providers exist in Inyo County — telehealth parent coaching is the only realistic in-county option. Kern Regional Center authorization is required. Families needing center-based ABA must travel to Bakersfield or Ridgecrest.

Kern Regional Center — Inyo County
California's Regional Center serving Inyo County. Provides Early Start (birth–3), service coordination, respite, and adult services for this vast desert county stretching from Death Valley to the Nevada border. Bakersfield main office handles all intake — telehealth coordination is standard given distances of 3–5 hours.
Apply at diagnosis. Inyo County is the second-largest county in California by area — distances are extreme. Telehealth service coordination is the standard model.

Kern Regional Center — Mono County
California's Regional Center serving Mono County. Provides Early Start (birth–3), service coordination, respite, and adult services for this remote Eastern Sierra county. Families in Mammoth Lakes and Bridgeport are served via the Bakersfield main office with remote coordination. Travel time to Bakersfield is 4+ hours — telehealth is the primary service model.
Apply at diagnosis. Mono County is extremely remote — service coordination is fully remote/telehealth. Bakersfield main office: (661) 327-8531.
