ABA is limited to children under 18.
Limits:
$50,000 a year for ABA — a single annual limit, not the two age bands you will see reported. Everything else is protected: there are NO limits on the number of visits, and dollar limits, deductibles and coinsurance may be no less favorable than those applied to physical illness generally.

Self-funded employer plans (ERISA) are typically exempt — ask your HR department which type of plan you have.

How the waiting list is ordered

Arkansas is a textbook first-come queue, and it says so plainly: people move into waiver slots based on when they were added to the waiting list. More than 4,500 Arkansans are waiting. That makes this one of the states where the standard advice is exactly right and unusually literal — the date you apply is the only lever you control, and nothing about how well you describe your situation will move you up. Apply now, even with a very young child and no idea what services you would want. A clinical review team then checks your medical records against the level-of-care requirement.

Only Medicaid members with significant behavioral health needs or developmental disabilities (Tier 2 or higher on the Independent Assessment, or on the CES Waiver or its waitlist) are enrolled in one of four PASSE managed care plans; new members are assigned one and can switch within 90 days or each October. PASSE members request ABA through their PASSE care coordinator. Children on ARKids First B do not get all extended EPSDT benefits, and children on the Autism Waiver get autism services through the waiver instead of ABA therapy.
