Clay County (Hayesville) is one of North Carolina's smallest and most remote counties, nestled against the Georgia border in the far western mountains. Mission Health in Asheville (~100 miles east) is the standard academic medical referral for comprehensive autism evaluations. Some Clay County families also access providers in Blairsville GA or Chattanooga TN.
Asheville is about 100 miles east. Murphy (Cherokee County) is the nearest town with more services (~25 miles).

Cherokee County (Murphy) is in the far western tip of North Carolina. Mission Health Asheville (~90 miles east) is the primary academic medical referral for comprehensive autism evaluations. Tri-County Community Hospital in Murphy provides local acute care, while Murphy Medical Center coordinates developmental referrals into the Mission/HCA system.
Asheville is about 90 miles east. Some families also access providers in Chattanooga TN or Atlanta GA given Murphy's location.
