Autism camps in Utah
3 campswe have checked against the organisation’s own website. Day camps, overnight camps and respite weekends — including, where they exist, the ones that serve adults.
Ask about paying with waiver respite. Utah’s waiver is the DSPD Home and Community-Based Services Waiver, and respite hours can often be spent on camp, billed as out-of-home respite. Ask your case manager, and ask the camp whether they accept Utah waiver funding. How Utah’s waiver works →
Camp Kostopulos (Camp K)
Ages All ages — children, teens and adults4180 E Emigration Canyon Road, Salt Lake City, UT 84108
Running since 1967 in Emigration Canyon, and the only camp in Utah accredited by the American Camp Association that serves people with disabilities. Summer camp comes in residential, day and trip formats — horses, fishing, a ropes course, arts and crafts, camping out. Beyond summer they run community-based programs year round, equestrian lessons and equine therapy, team building, and SWEET, a summer work exploration and training program. They serve people of all ages with physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities including autism, and state their aim as serving everyone regardless of ability, income or where they live — worth taking them at their word and asking about financial help.
National Ability Center
Ages All ages, children and adults1000 Ability Way, Park City, UT 84060
A 40-year-old nonprofit running year-round adaptive sport and recreation from a 26-acre ranch in Park City, about 40 minutes from Salt Lake City, plus a second Park City site and one in Moab. Skiing and snowboarding, rock climbing, archery, cycling, equestrian programs, and day and overnight camps. Autistic children and adults are one of their two largest populations served, so this is not a program where autism is an afterthought. Their community programs include COACH internships for young adults aged 16–22 and PC ALL, a weekly social and recreation session. Splore's adaptive outdoor adventure programs — rafting, canoeing, climbing — now run through the National Ability Center following a merger.
